Management Team

Craig Husa, President and CEO

With twenty years of leadership experience in high-growth, technology companies, Craig has the skills and strategic vision to lead NeuralIQ as its growth continues to accelerate. He has extensive business experience in establishing new technologies as market-changing solutions for the success of its customers.

Craig most recently was CEO of General Software. General Software was the leading provider of embedded firmware for devices including network equipment, servers, blades, medical, aerospace, defense, and security. Customers included companies such as Microsoft, Cisco, Nortel, Intel, GE Healthcare, Boeing, and Lockheed. At General Software, Craig led its growth and subsequent sale to Phoenix Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTEC), the global market leader in system firmware for the PC industry.

Before joining General Software, Craig was CEO of Healia, a leading health-vertical search engine. Healia was acquired by Meredith Corporation (NYSE: MDP), a $1.6 billion media and marketing company. Craig also founded CourtLink Corporation, the award-winning, market-maker of real-time electronic case record access and electronic filing solutions. CourtLink was acquired by LexisNexis, a leading global provider of information to legal, corporate, government, and academic markets. Craig earned a MBA from the Harvard Business School and a BS, with distinction, in Systems Engineering from the United States Naval Academy. He is a school board director for the Snoqualmie Valley School District and is an active leader in the Boy Scouts of America.

William J. Fallon, CEO of NeuralIQ Government Systems

In 2008, William J. Fallon retired as a four-star admiral after a distinguished 40-year career of military and strategic leadership. He has led U.S. and Allied forces in eight separate commands and played a leadership role in military and diplomatic matters at the highest levels of the U.S. government. As head of U.S. Central Command, Admiral Fallon directed all U.S. military operations in the Middle East, Central Asia, and Horn of Africa, focusing on combat efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. On 9/11, Admiral Fallon was serving in the Pentagon as Vice Chief of Naval Operations (VCNO). He personally directed the recovery of the Navy staff in the wake of the attack and led in the planning of the retaliatory attacks on Al Qaeda and Taliban forces in Afghanistan.

Admiral Fallon is a graduate of Villanova University, the U.S. Naval War College, and the National War College, and has an M.A. in International Studies from Old Dominion University. In addition to his private consulting business, he serves on the Global Affairs Advisory Board of Occidental College as well as several corporate boards. He is currently a Robert E. Wilhelm Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Center for International Studies.

Alen Capalik, Founder and Chief Architect

Alen discovered his passion for information security as a gray-hat hacker growing up in Eastern Europe. Fascinated by the unbounded ingenuity and intense motivation of the hackers around him, Alen quickly realized that designing security systems to predict human behavior in cyber attacks was a losing proposition. He took this realization with him to the United States where he conducted research on attacker behavior while serving as network and security architect for banks, financial institutions, and national exchanges. In 2004, Alen founded NeuralIQ in order to create real-time systems that turn the collective intelligence of attackers into a resource that can be used against them.

Alen most recently served as Chief Technology Officer for Tradeware Global, a leading provider of Order Management Systems software on Wall Street. Prior to Tradeware, Alen served as Network and Security Architect for CollabNet, a venture capital-funded startup focused on open source software development. Before CollabNet, Alen worked as Network and Security Architect for Barclays Bank.

James Whitfield, COO

James has operational and organizational experience in for-profit, non-profit, and government sectors. From 2005 to 2008, he was the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Regional Director for Region 10, making him the HHS Secretary’s top representative in the region, responsible for guidance and coordination of more than all HHS policies and more than 600 federal employees in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington State. Beginning in 2007, James concurrently served as the Deputy Director of the HHS Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, splitting his time between Seattle and D.C managing staff across the nation.

Prior to his appointment, James served on the Executive Management Team for the Washington Health Foundation in Seattle, a statewide nonprofit dedicated to improving the health of Washington communities. During his tenure at the foundation, he was responsible for developing and implementing a statewide campaign to make Washington the healthiest state in the nation. He has also managed his own small business and served as a technology consultant.

A graduate of the University of Iowa, James has studied health care policy at Harvard, is a noted public speaker on leadership and policy issues; is the author of the hospital patient guide, “Just What the Patient Ordered”; and is a member of the board of elders at Overlake Christian Church - one of the largest congregations in the Pacific Northwest.

Mary Beth Long, Senior Vice President, NeuralIQ Government Systems

Mary Beth is the former Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs advising the secretary on strategy (Middle East and Arabian Gulf, Europe, and Africa). Additionally, Mary Beth has worked for over ten years as an intelligence professional.

Stan Eramia, Vice President, Development Operations

Stan joined NeuralIQ in 2006 after spending ten years in institutional financial services. He began his career at Oppenheimer & Company and went on to serve at the NASDAQ Stock Market’s national market surveillance division. Stan most recently served as Managing Director and Chief Compliance Officer for JonesTrading Institutional Services, LLC. Driven to influence the security industry by building a company culture and infrastructure that emphasizes innovation and cutting edge solutions, Stan currently leads NeuralIQ’s operations and strategic business planning.

Board of Directors

Matthew Bergman, Chairman

Matt is the founder and managing partner of Bergman Draper & Frockt, based in Seattle, Washington. He is a member of the Washington State Trial Bar and was selected in 2005 as a Washington Super Lawyer by Washington Law and Politics magazine, one of the leading chroniclers of the Washington legal scene. He recently served as one of seven lawyers across the nation who negotiated a landmark $4 billion national settlement with the Halliburton Corporation for their asbestos liabilities. Matt has also worked as a political organizer for the AFL–CIO on voter registration and education campaigns.

As a lawyer fighting for the rights of individuals, Matt continues to work closely with local and international unions throughout the Northwest. He is licensed to practice law in Washington and Oregon and is admitted to the Federal District courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Washington as well as the Courts of Appeals for the Ninth and Tenth circuits.

James R. O’Neill

Jim is a 30-year technology industry veteran. He has extensive senior management experience with emphasis on networks and electronics as well as large system integration, communications, and computer technology.

Most recently, Jim served as the Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Enterprise Communications. With revenues of more than 3 billion Euros, Siemens Enterprise Communications is a leader in enterprise communications, particularly in unified communications, contact centers, and secure networks. Prior to Siemens, Jim was the CEO of CompuDyne Corporation, a leading provider of products and services to the public security market.

Prior to joining CompuDyne, Jim served four years as president of Northrop Grumman Corporation’s $4.5 billion Information Technology sector, one of the world’s premier providers of advanced IT engineering, and business solutions for government. Previously, he served as president of the sector’s Computing Systems business, a value-added reseller of networking, enterprise computing, security and storage solutions and services.

Before joining Northrop Grumman in 2002, Jim held a variety of key industry positions, including roles as senior vice president and general manager of Oracle Services Industries, where he led the company’s sales and consulting groups in the worldwide communications and utilities sectors. He also served as president of the Government Solutions business unit at Lucent Technologies, and vice president and general manager of Digital Equipment Corporation's Federal Government Region, where he managed Digital’s government business worldwide.

Jim received a bachelor’s degree from St. Anselm College, New Hampshire, and has attended executive management programs worldwide. He has served on numerous boards including as the 2008 chairman of the Professional Services Council and vice chairman of the Executive Committee for the Northern Virginia Technology Council. Jim also sits on the board of the Technology Council of Maryland and the American Heart Association. He was named 2006 Government Contractor Executive of the Year by the Northern Virginia GovCon Council, Professional Services Council, and Washington Technology.

Sue Toigo

Sue is the chairman of Fitzgibbon Toigo Associates, a licensed financial broker/dealer that raises institutional capital for investment clients globally. Sue is a founder and former chairman of The Institute for Fiduciary Education (IFE). Since 1985, IFE has provided both educational seminars and informational services to large institutional investors worldwide. She is also a founder and director of the Robert Toigo Foundation, which supports 135 minority students each year in the nation’s top 17 business schools and has over 700 alumni in the financial services industry, globally. Her work with the Foundation gives her significant industry presence. A graduate with honors from the University of California at Berkeley, she has been inducted into the Berkeley Women’s Hall of Fame. Sue currently serves on the Columbia Business School Board of Overseers.
